Well.. here i am... at last able to show you my last bit and pieces of my last adventure.. London.. yeah i know i have been here at least twice before.. But i can't help it, i was born and breed in the city. So i sort of miss the hussle and bussle of the city centre.
The trip for London this time is all about ME ME ME ME ME.... for once after constantly nagging to my friend (Cik Putri) that i haven't got the chance to do my bit of travelling. So we came to an agreement that i will accompany her to Oxford Circus road for Boxing day shopping and she will let me visit two of my MUST visit places which was ARSENAL's STADIUM and HMS Belfast (England's Floating Naval Museum).
So first task on list. accompany Putri to Oxford Circus road , hehhehe (in a way). Once we got there putri was doing her bit of task, so i did mine by checking out books and spending the whole time in Starbucks at Oxford Circus Road while Ms Lawyer and her bunch of friends went shopping at Oxford Circus in which i want to mention that by noon had about MILLIONS OF PEOPLE... hey at least i did fufil my part of the deal coz she didn't mention that i had to bodyguard her all the way. Swear, let me taze be thunder before i got thru another "mental abuse" of shopping for the opposite sex but of course my babygirl fiera and mum is an exception.
Anyway, one of putri's friend was kind enough to loan me an accomodation for a couple of days, so i manage to save some while i was at it. hehehhehe
Oh yeah before i forget, i did some bit of planning while in London among which was of course beside Emirates Stadium and HMS Belfast, i added Soho Hotel and watching I AM LEGEND as well.

After dozen of time trying over and over again.. At last i manage to upload my pictures... To be honest i am fotopages is getting on my nerve.. Some reason it won't upload my pictures after a certain stint. Anyhow...here it is.. My adventures in Liverpool...
Well first hand.. Liverpool was a great city... To be honest is fair that i call it United Kingdom City of Love.. With seafronts... Street performers which remains you of Paris.. really nice people.... 14th Century Victorian buliding..
Anyway... for all the anfield fans.. They are some sights for your viewing pleasure... Though it might not be as impressive as Arsenal's and MU stadium's hhehehehe But i have to admit they are a lot of spirit installed in the stadium atmostphere.... Though the stadium looks impressive the road right infront of it seems extremely desserted though... But than again Liverpool will be moving to a new stadium soon.. So lets hope it will give a new light of hope to the teams in which the team really needs it...
Finally... Next stop... Home of true football legend.... North London... Arsenal!

Manchester city of.... malaysian... a lot of them...
|
|
To all who asked... Whats with the long silence? I am truly sorry as i was extremely busy during the holidays with the trip around UK and essay submission. At the same time for some weird reason i can't seem to upload my pictures on fotopages as well.
But despite being about two months late, here it is. The pictures for my trip to Manchester, Liverpool and London. It was during the Christmas break i took the time to go around UK for a week, and explore some of the sights in and around these places.
A few amazing things i wish to mention,
First; As the Title suggested, yes i found another place where dozens and dozens of Malaysian seem to be around. At one point i was wondering whether Malaysia's low population crisis had anything to do with migration to the UK.
Second: While in Manchester, i was dragged to visit old Trafford home of Manchester United. Though honestly, i was dragging my feet in the stadium with boredome hehehheheh as i was an Arsenal supporter. But i had to respect the amount of spirit went to the team. Though i never liked the team but certainly one of the team you shouldn't reckon with.
Third: To anyone who has a soft spot for romantic city, do give a visit to Liverpool Though Liverpool stadium was pretty small compared to MU and Arsenal but the place was awesome. The seafront and town was definitly a pretty sight.
Anyway..... Enjoy the pictures... Will update the rest on the second part of this blog...

As the first semester comes to an end...all the buzz of studying shifts down a notch.... However not for me coz i am hitting the road...
My December holidays was a packed one... I had several places to travel in a couple of weeks... And edinburgh was the start of my european lampoon journey...
Well basiclly it was the trip with the Ustinov College (durham university) Rugby Team field trip.... How does this trip has anything to help the rugby team, i have not frickin idea. But all to all it was a great trip, as we went sight seeing in Ediburgh for 2 days and catch a rugby match betwen Ediburgh vs Leinster.
The team leader was good friend of mine Mr Dylan Mc Donald, and the unique thing about this trip is that we have RULES. Well basiclly it was sort of like a game rule, where you aren't allow to do something OR being caught doing something OR being done someting upon. You will get punish.
Example :
(1) If you family/friends/girlfriend/boyfriends calls or txt you are NOT allowed to pick up the phone instead other people from the trip will have to pick it up for you.
(2) Anyone caught holding their drinks with their right hand WLL have to finish their drink there and then.
(3) If someone puts a penny in your drinks, you WILL have to finish you drink then and there.
See rule one is pretty interesting coz if you girlfriend call.. The person who picks up the call could flirt with her or do a prank on you. Rule 2 & 3 is interesting IF you are drinking alcoholic drink coz you will be drunk in an hour. Thank god for me all i got was a sugar high after drinking 4 pints of coke in an hour shhsshh .
Hope you enjoy the photos.. My next stop.. Manchester...

London Part II
|
|
Its has benn a long with many many interesting incidents happening. But lets finish of the important ones first. Dad and mum has been nagging all week in regards for the full blown pictures of London .
So here it is... Dad & Mum sorry for the delay.
In regards for the pictures concern, it picks off from 4pm on my second day in London. During that time i was heading to Malaysian Hall.... Of course FOR FOODDDDDD.... I found three very interesting at Malaysian Hall:
A) The food wasn't as expensive as what people been telling me IF you compare the prices of food in general in London.
B) The people in Malaysian hall are really friendly.
C) It is probihited for Non Malaysian to enter it unless they are been accompanied by Malaysian, which is kinda cool coz now even Cheap Skate Malaysian like me have a private club hehheheh.
After the malaysian hall we head to Madame Tussauds House of Wax. Which was really cool where i get to take pictures with a lot of stars (hehheheh or something that looks like them).
On the third day, we shoot of to London Bridge and Oxford Bridge for some sight seeing and shopping for the ladies. As for muahh, i just sat at Starbucks for some hot coffee and a short nap for the long journey home from London to Durham.
Anyway enjoy the pictures... Just to let you know that i just came back from Endinburgh (Scotland) a day ago. So yes, i have another set of picture which i need to upload as well.
As christmas is around the corner, i made plans for Manchester and London on the 21st Dec till 26th of Dec..... Yup, this is going to be one heck of a month.
Finally, SELAMAT HARI RAYA HAJI EVERYBODY!

How does this sound for a travelling trip?
3 days 2 nights to London with 5 ladies.
And a Baby…
Sounds like any typical guys dream come true... But before my mum, dad and girlfriend gives me a piece of their mind let me elaborate the actual situation. A couple of months back, some of the Malaysian post grad (including me) in Durham taught since this is our first time UK lets head to London.
The idea was to Rent a Van, book an Inn and cover as much as London possible in 2 days. But before your mind runs wild, the 5 ladies include Putri (a law post graduate whom also my friend staying in Ustinov), Kak Zila & her baby boy, Ira (Kak Zila's younger sister and babysitter), Yazmin (a educational post graduate AND MARRIED) Mak jah (or Hajjah, the most serious PHD student I ever meet hehhehe) and Yes me! So technically I was bodyguard, AKA baby carrier and AKA driver all in one...In conclusion their is no ulterior motive for me…
P/S: To my baby fiera... You are still my one and only... hehhehehhehe
Since i took about 230 pictures i will spare everybody the sheer boredom of looking at them by first dividing the pictures into 2 sets and give the IMPORTANT details in point form below!
a) The van we rented was a Vauxhall, Zafira 6 seater. (Good van but seriously small for 6 person)
b) It took us 8 hours to travel from Durham-London with the ladies driving on the pilot seat. But instead it took 4 1/2 hours from London-Durham with me on the pilot seat. (Yes, I am expecting a few speeding tickets as well )
c) We didn't stay in a expensive hotel or any hotel for that matter instead we stayed in a HOSTEL. It’s called Globettrotter Inn; it’s basically a cheap Inn strictly for backpackers’ teenagers, student and people below 35 years old. The difference is it rents beds not room with shared toilet! So for back packers it is really convenient but for family please don't choose this option. It cost around 19 pounds per night with breakfast. Pretty cheap considering that even cheap motels cost you around 40 pound per night/per head!
d) Place that I visited: Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Malaysian Hall, London Bridge, Madam Tussauds Wax Museum, Westminster Palace, Oxford Bridge Road, China Town and an Old Prison which i can't seem to recall.. Sorry!
e) What do I think about London...? It is HUGEEEEEEEEEEEEEE... Imagine an area as busy as jalan ampang and KLCC but times 20x (or more). The palace is literally packed of people everywhere.
f) What do i think about the cost to travel to London...? Bring your student card... Coz if you don't have one please be prepared to sacrifice your arm and legs....But it’s worth it.....
g) What interesting things i found in London... I swear to god.... But there are tons tons tons of Malaysian in London........and they are everywhere..... If you are missing a neighbour or cousin or friends or husband or wife in that matter you might find them in London seriously…

Hmm I am not sure where to start about my hari raya celebration... It wasn't the best one but definitely not the worst... I guess being far away from home does take a toll on you towards a certain extend.. Yes, it was a sad hari raya.... No, despite contrary believe i had my rendang, nasi hempit and the rest of the hari raya delicacy..
The morning start off with the Hari Raya prayer at Howland's Farm which was 2 minutes from my room ... Basically the prayer was the same except that the Takbir Raya (Takbir Raya: is a chant we do on the morning before Hari Raya prayer) was SO DIFFERENT the one we have in Malaysia. Let put this in a example where everybody could understand...in Malaysia the takbir had a rhythm where we could enjoy its beautiful tone and expression... Like riding a wave... HERE in Durham it was so fast that I almost lost my voice... It wasn't takbir raya. It was riding a bullet train from Tokyo to the end of the world...
But overall it was pretty alright... Thanks to Kak Zila, she was very kind to drag me along to all the open house at Bowburn, Durham and etc... She was really an angel... As for myself and puteri... We attempt to make some kuih hari raya.. It turned out well and our kuih was a success...
On the 7th day of Syawal (7th Day of Hari Raya), the Malaysian families in Keenan house organized an open house where the food was prepared by the Malaysian Post Graduate families in Durham University... It was a great event as I manage to meet more single students in Durham Uni.... AND my tummy manages to fill himself to his heart desire.....

The last few things my parents told me before i left Malaysia, was " the opportunity to study overseas are dreamt by many, yet few get to do it and only a handful manage to enjoy it".
Well this is what i determine to do.. To get the very best out of it... Beside of course "ehmmm enjoying the European view" hehhehehehhe... Yes, i am a typical man... How can i help it...
But this is the few pictures of Durham University, starting from Ustinov College. Just in case you are clueless about Durham University let me tell you briefly about it.
Durham University, is 175 years old educational institute. (sorry if it sounds like Discovery Channel ) The university is well known to use a colligate system where students are manage by Colleges BUT education wise will still done by Durham University itself.
For example in my case, i am taking Masters In International Studies so my courses is manage by the Politics department of Durham University but my "welfare" and accommodation is manage by Ustinov College. There is about 20 colleges in Durham University which in most cases take cares of undergraduate (degree) students. Ustinov College is for how should i put this mature students and Postgraduate students.... yeah yeah i am a bit old as an average here.. Well look at the good side.. More for me to dine on hahahhaha....
As for the rest of the colleges ... They sound similar to snipts from Harry Porter's movie...such as Collingwood, Castle, Travelyn, St Mary's, Hild Bede, St Chads, Grey, Hatfield, Josephine Butler, St Cuthbert's and etc......
And YES, we have a building that even looks like it came from Harry Porters movie..... which kinda sucks for me coz i love NEW building.. Old ones especially in Durham University could go about 1,000 years old which looks creepy....
Anyway enjoy the pictures... And to mum and dad... yes, i will behave .... And to my baby Fiera...jangan merajuk ehhh sayang awak... hehehehe.
Last few things to mention... first... I meet two interesting people on my first few weeks while i was here... First, Hasnur... an old friend back in High School. She was from SIGS and bandar baru uda....Knew her for almost 10 years and she was here for a short duration to take care her niece for a couple of months. 2nd, Remy an old housemate back in MMU Malacca. We stayed in the same apartment for 1 year. He was here to accompany his wife which was doing Masters at Newcastle University... Talking about small world huh hehheheheh
Note: Durham University doesn't have an exact size in terms of how big the university is in land mass becoz Durham University IS Durham City. Its almost like it coexisted together....
